It is our core belief that all children have a right to protection and that the welfare of the child is paramount. As an ethical organisation, we ensure that we have effective policies and processes in place that protect the children, young adults and communities that we work with.
Our policy is implemented across our entire organisation, including the FutureSense Foundation, and ensures that all children and young people with whom we work or support are protected at all times. The policy is in agreement with the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child.
We regularly review and update our Child Protection Policy to ensure best practice and stay up to date with any new research or legislation, such as Australia's new Modern Slavery Act.
All participants are required to obtain a Working with Children Check or equivalent and sign our Code of Conduct before commencing their program.
We don't work with orphanages. There is extensive research that shows the harm caused to children by institutionalised care and we do not support the orphanage tourism industry.
