Duration: 15 Days (21 with extension trip)
Location: Cambodia
Total Cost: $2700
The Cambodian government provides only half a day of free education at the primary school level. To receive a full day of education, children must attend supplementary classes, which require payment. For families living at or below the poverty line, this expense is unaffordable, resulting in limited educational opportunities for children from these communities.
Since 2013, Challenges Abroad and FutureSense Foundation have supported a supplementary education centre in Battambang, which would have otherwise closed without our support! Through this centre, we are able to provide children in the community with free supplementary education classes...
This is where you come in!
As part of this program, you will be helping us drive forward our long-term education goals in our community. Working at a supplementary education centre or government primary and secondary schools, your goal will be to inspire young learners in their education!
Design and facilitate educational workshops that supplement the rigid government curriculum, while inspiring learning techniques to go beyond traditional rote learning methods!
Help to upskill local teachers as you coordinate teacher training workshops!
Through these workshops, we aim to help local teachers develop their confidence in speaking and teaching English, as well as training them in more engaging learning techniques that inspire a more conducive learning environment.
Help in the development of important skills like critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork that will engage young learners in their education and increase pass rates!
